Did you know that a deodorant and an antiperspirant are actually two different products? There is a big difference between how an antiperspirant and a deodorant work and how effective they are at relieving problems with sweating. Learn more in this blog post, in which a dermatologist, Annesofie Faurschou, explains the difference.
Do you sometimes wonder what the difference is between a deodorant and an antiperspirant, or whether it is one and the same thing? The short answer is that deodorants and antiperspirants are different. Annesofie Faurschou, a dermatologist, explains:
“A deodorant masks the smell of sweat and contains fragrance. An antiperspirant does not contain fragrance. Instead of just mitigating the odour, an antiperspirant prevents sweat from reaching the surface of the skin. It does this by forming a gel plug down in the sweat duct. That is why you avoid unpleasant sweating and sweat odour. This gel plug dissolves after 3-5 days with the skin’s natural secretion of dead skin cells. For best effect, apply an antiperspirant in the evening just before going to bed. Make sure it dries completely on the skin before putting on your nightwear. Depending on the effectiveness of the antiperspirant, the effect lasts from a few hours up to several days. You can easily apply a deodorant in the morning after showering along your favourite perfume. It does not interfere with the effect.”
Apply a small amount of Perspirex to dry, undamaged skin – just 2 coats up and 2 coats down – in a thin layer. evenly distributed in the middle of the armpit. This is enough to provide effective protection that lasts for up to five days.
There are various versions of Perspirex antiperspirant to fit your particular personal needs. Perspirex protects you safely against sweat and odour in any situation and is available in various versions:
